About Nabarangpur College

Nabarangpur College is the premier college of the district. It has been facilitating higher education in this remote south corner of Odisha catering to the  higher eudcational needs of thousands of students hailing from poor, socio – economic strata of the society since its establishement in 1971. The college has been serving as the lead college in this region and providing guidance to all the colleges of the district. Regarding the strength of the college, it has a huge campus of more than 50 acres of land filled with lush green deciduous forest – a rare asset for a non-governmental college. Regarding the facilities of the college, it has the provision for Honors in all the streams in Arts, Commerce and Science. The students of about 2000 majority of them hailing from SC, ST and other backward caste have been pursuing higher education in this college. On the other hand, lack of adequate number of faculties, infrastructure, and lack of hostels etc causing great hindrances for furthering higher education in the desirable lines. On the basis of the strengths of the college, it can be developed into a university in miniature if the lacunas of the college are removed.

The college has been declared as one of the LEAD COLLEGES of Odisha. The college is an affiliated autonomous college of Berhampur University and recognized by the UGC under rule 128(1956) of UGC act. The college volunteered to be assessed and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore, and the team visited the college for three days during . On the recommendations of the NAAC team the UGC has conferred C++ status to this college.The college, as one of the oldest colleges of the state, has been rendering yeoman’s service to the students and public at large and have given a great impetus to take several initiatives for academic excellence and pedagogic expansion.
